Privacy Policy

In plain words: Fledge collects information about your family and child to give you personalized parenting plans. We never sell your data. Your child's information is encrypted and stored safely. You can delete your account anytime.

1. Who we are

Fledge is an AI-powered parenting platform operated as a personal project. For privacy questions, contact: privacy@fledge.co.in.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account details: Name, email address, password (hashed).
  • Child profile: Name, date of birth, gender, any special needs or concerns you share.
  • Family profile: Family type, home environment, city/state, languages, cultural context, work schedule, budget, goals, concerns.
  • Activity feedback: Ratings, notes, and optional photos of completed activities.
  • Check-ins: Weekly mood, highlights, concerns, and milestone observations.
  • Chat messages: Questions you ask the AI advisor and the responses generated.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, time spent (aggregated, anonymized).
  • Device info: Browser type, operating system, IP address (for security).
  • AI usage logs: Token counts and latency for cost tracking (no prompt content stored separately).

3. How we use your information

  • Generate personalized monthly activity plans for your child.
  • Provide the AI advisor with full context about your family.
  • Detect patterns in check-ins to suggest professional consultations when needed.
  • Track developmental milestones.
  • Improve the service (aggregate analytics only — never individual data).
  • Send you notifications about plans, check-in reminders, and important updates.
  • Secure your account and prevent abuse.

4. Child data protection

Fledge handles information about minors. We take this seriously:

  • Only parents/legal guardians can create accounts and add child profiles.
  • Children do not interact with Fledge directly.
  • We never share child data with advertisers or third-party marketers.
  • Child photos (if uploaded for activity feedback) are stored privately and never used for training AI models.
  • You can delete your child's profile and all associated data at any time.

5. How we share your information

We share data only in these limited cases:

  • Anthropic (AI provider): Prompts are sent to Claude API to generate plans and chat responses. Anthropic does not use this data to train models (per their zero-retention policy for API customers).
  • Consultants you book: When you book a session, an anonymized context summary is shared (no name, location, or photos — only age, stage, and relevant concerns).
  • Service providers: Hosting (Vercel), database (Neon), payment processing (Razorpay, when enabled) — bound by data processing agreements.
  • Legal requirements: If compelled by law, court order, or to prevent harm.

We never sell your data. We never share it with advertisers.

6. Data storage & security

  • Data is stored on PostgreSQL databases hosted in the Asia-Southeast region (Singapore).
  • Passwords are hashed with bcrypt (12 rounds).
  • All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption.
  • Database connections use SSL.
  • Access is limited to authorized personnel only.

7. Your rights under India's DPDP Act, 2023

As a user in India, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you and your child.
  • Correction: Update incorrect information.
  • Erasure: Delete your account and all associated data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Withdrawal of consent: Stop data processing at any time.
  • Grievance redressal: Raise concerns with our grievance officer.

To exercise these rights, email privacy@fledge.co.in. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Data retention

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active.
  • Deleted accounts: Permanently removed within 30 days.
  • AI chat history: Retained for 30 days on free tier, indefinitely on premium (until you delete it).
  • Legal/audit logs: Retained for up to 1 year for security purposes.

9. Children's Online Privacy (COPPA awareness)

Fledge is not directed at children under 13. Only adults (parents/guardians) create accounts. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child without parental consent, we will delete it promptly.

10. International users

If you access Fledge from outside India, your data may be transferred to and processed in India or Singapore. By using Fledge, you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Major changes will be notified via email or in-app notification at least 7 days before taking effect.
